Caboose – Bokstäver, Siffror, Former och Färger

@Reks goes above and beyond to support Swedish preschool teachers in their effort to use technology in education. It was at least a month long work on creating and translating theCaboose - Learn to Recognize and Complete Patterns application of special interest for Swedish teachers. The iPhone and iPad app that teaches patterns with Swedish narration is finally in iTunes!

Build A Word – Easy Spelling with Phonics

The main components of the Build A Word Phonics interface are a notepad sheet with the target word written on it either in letters (practice mode) or in question marks (quiz mode), several scattered letter cards and card slots in a number that matches the number of the letters in the target word. The target word is spelled either in upper- or lower-case letters.

The goal of each activity is to assemble (“spell” or “write”) the target word in the card slots using some of the letter cards.

The letter card can be dragged using simple gestures. Once the dragged card is near the appropriate slot the application places the card in the slot. (more…)

Build A Word Application helps children as young as three learn how to spell. Children are motivated through positive reinforcement in the form of a fun balloon popping game offered after each successfully “written” word.

Educational

 

The underlying pedagogical methodology for this application is to teach children how to combine letters into words. A child is offered a visual prompt or/and audio prompt. The words are divided into categories based on their phonics features. Thus, children are introduced to short-vowel words, long-vowel words and sight words.
