This is neither a Microsoft story nor Apple story. This is not a story of a few young geeky engineers who had the skill and TIME to dedicate their lives into building something miraculously big. This is a story of two parents tired of work, exhausted by endless demands of their three very young children, who just moved into their new empty house. As the bills were piling, the sleepless parents had to come up with a way to at least secure their income if increasing it was too far fetched. And that is how @Reks was born – out of a necessity!
Although there have been hardly any marketing, the first applications released in iTunes were successful enough to push the company into creating more and more iOS apps. The first app was launched on November 8th, 2010. It was a paid iOS application Tick Tock Clock – Learn How to Tell Time Using Digital and Analog Clock with Roman and Arabic Numerals. It had 66 downloads on the very first week (see table below).
The second iOS paid app had some 130 downloads on the first day of its release. This second app is still @Reks’ most popular app with almost 1.3 million downloads: Build A Word – Easy Spelling – Learn to Spell Sight Words, Long Vowel and Short Vowel Words (see table below).
Today @Reks has some All @Reks Apps designed for both iPhone and iPad with over 3M downloads. FREE @Reks Apps (approximately one third of all the apps). If we are to compare the first @Reks week in iTunes with 66 downloads with one of the most recent weeks, we’ll see an enormous increase. The table below shows a week in October, to be more exact week of Oct 24 – Oct 30, 2016. That particular week had 43K downloads.
Although @Reks won’t make it to the front page of any magazine, its iOS apps will certainly be remembered by hundreds of thousands of users worldwide.
